About the director

Pauline Cancel was born and raised near Nîmes in the Gard. Whilst studying for her Master’s degree in Film Directing and Creation at Paris VIII, she directed Consumés, shot on 16mm film, which explores adolescent grief.
With *SEA SUN AND BURN*, she presents a horrific yet comical metaphor for puberty through the prism of sunburn, and by extension, a reflection on the representation of the female body.
