About the director

Bande James Bond is a collective born in Brussels (2022), with a desire to weave a queer and humorous gaze into the cinematic portrayal of sexuality. In the creation of its own unique genre, it gives birth to a fantastical hybrid - a blend of erotica, drama, musical, and camp.
With a focus on making cinema from scraps and papier-mâché, Bande James Bond seeks to achieve much with little, drawing inspiration from the enchanting allure of vampire B-movies and strange fairy tales to unleash its wildest fantasies.
Firm in the belief that the joys of a light and blissful euphoria led by wondrous and poetic genre films are more vital than ever in these turbulent times, Bande James Bond strides forward, determined to reveal what touches its heart, what makes it laugh, and what moves it.

Intention Note

For the past three years, we have immersed ourselves in Brussels' cultural scene, striving to provide fresh perspectives and foster dialogue through queer erotic and pornographic genre films under our collective, Bande James Bond. We are united by a commitment to challenge traditional views on desire and sexuality, and we vehemently oppose the oppressive cis-heteropatriarchal norms that persist.
We aim to celebrate a hybrid form of cinema that is joyful and eclectic, where the charm of low-budget effects can transport audiences into a world of dreams, quirky adventures, and thrilling escapades - bringing joy and excitement to a landscape that often lacks them. We draw inspiration from the vibrant talents within our community and aim to shine a radical, flamboyant, humorous, and beautiful light on their existence and contributions, which deeply resonate with us.
This mission is close to our hearts, and we approach it from various angles. Cilu Dièl, a founding member of the collective, co-founded the Brussels Porn Film Festival and collaborates with SNAP! (Sexworkers Narrative Arts and Performance), where she curates sound-based pornography. Ernesto and Popo La Sodo conduct radio research on queer and feminist pornography. We also organize screenings of local porn and sex worker films to advocate for porn as a form of political art.
